TSA Approved Locks

TSA Approved Luggage locks are luggage locks that are recognized by the TSA. These special luggage locks are created so TSA screeners can open pieces of luggage.  If your luggage lock can not be opened the security screener will cut the lock off.  TSA screeners have master keys and tools for opening all TSA approved locks that allow them to open the lock without damage during inspection of your luggage.

If it is important to you that your luggage makes it onto the plane (which it is for most of us), then do everything possible to help security.  Screeners will always strive to open a piece of luggage without breaking the lock but really it is your luggage and the outcome is up to you. I only recommend a handful of the TSA approved luggage locks. Make sure the lock indicates that it is TSA approved.  The locks listed below are listed by specific brands or manufacturers however I recommend that you check the packaging to make sure your new luggage has a TSA approved luggage. Most locks on the market are not TSA approved.
